Remembrance

In our Remembrance Day concert this year, CapriCCio
presents two major works for guitar and choir, featuring
guest artist Alexander Dunn. The works are particularly
appropriate to this day of remembrance: the Romancero Gitano
by Mario Catelnuovo-Tedesco, based on poems by Garcia Lorca,
and Four Civil War Poems by Walt Whitman, composed by
Jeffrey Van. Walt Whitman's wise and moving poetry considers
his experience in the American Civil War (1861-1865). Garcia
Lorca was killed in the Spanish Civil War in 1936. A shorter
but popular and magnificent mass setting by the greatest
composer of 16th century Spain, Tomas Luis da Victoria will
also be performed in this concert. As is our tradition,
CapriCCio will begin the concert with an Act of Remembrance.
The concert will conclude with a selection of popular,
lighter songs and encores.
